FilmDis is looking to add a monthly guest post about various topics relating to film and TV. If you love to write and have a great idea for an article, you might want to keep reading.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
An original article on disability in TV or film (length is up to you, though over 500 and under 1500 words is preferred). This could be a TV review, a dissection of an episode, or your thoughts on how to improve the industry where disabled representation is concerned. It could also be something completely different – that’s up to you!
A writer with a disability. Extra points go to writers who are Black, Brown, Indigenous, POC, or 2SLGBTQIA+.
Here’s what you do:
Send us an article pitch. Introduce yourself and tell us who you are and what your article idea is about. Make us want to read your article using your pitch and you have a great chance of being selected! On the Contact Form drop-down box, please choose “Submit Article/Blog Idea” to be considered for this opportunity.
Once you’ve sent your pitch, we will let you know if we’re interested as soon as possible. We will try to get back to everyone, but in the event you do not hear from us, it’s likely because we don’t feel the pitch fits in with FilmDis for one reason or another.
I’ve been chosen now what:
You write your article and send it over. We may edit, only for grammatical/spelling issues. Your content will not be changed by us. If content changes need to be made, we would ask you to make them. (Note: Spelling and Grammar used in AAVE or any cultural context will not be changed – just basic spelling and grammar).
We take your article and add it to our website where it will be featured and promoted.
Make sure to send a bio and a photo so that we can add those to the bottom of the article.
Once we have your article up and it’s been approved, we will send you $100 via Paypal or Venmo.
Specifics:
All articles must be related to disability and media, though we encourage discussion about the intersections between disability and other marginalizations.
FilmDis will be choosing one article to be featured by a guest writer at $100 per article per month.
Feel free to send us your pitch and even if you’re not chosen for the current month, we may choose to schedule your piece for a future month.
All articles need to be completely original and not appear elsewhere in their entirety.
We look forward to seeing your ideas!
*It is and always has been the intention of FilmDis to help amplify the voices of those most ignored and we will continue to do so.
